Beach Block
The goal of this design was to communicate the casual barefoot beach atmosphere the client experiences when using their vacation home. Gutting individual rooms to allow for an open plan and open communication, slipcovering and painting existing furniture for ease of maintenance, and covering the floor in bamboo planks all helped achieve the desired look. But the most contested vehicle of this expression was the use of butt jointed planks of wood for all walls and ceilings. Result; the most often repeated comment made by visitors is the overwhelming feeling of “being at the beach”.
